A heavy and rare English silver open faced lever deck watch with 6-minute carrousel, circa 1909. Retailed by D. Norris, Brazil.
Frosted gilt 2/3 plate movement, chatoned, carrousel revolving in 6 minutes, gold screwed compensation balance, blued free-sprung hairspring, chatoned diamond endstone on balance. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, auxiliary seconds and blued spade hands. Plain case, tiered, case maker’s punch mark WB, gold hinges. Dial signed, movement signed and numbered.

Carrousel watches are designed by the Danish watchmaker Bahne Bonniksen, who registered the patent in 1892 in England. His intention was to create a compromise between the expensive tourbillon and a normal chronometer, he actually achieved better results with his carrousel than some of the tourbillons.
