Tarleton
William Tarleton was a prominent pocket watchmaker in Liverpool during the late 18th and early 19th  century. He is often described as an “eminent” maker whose work is recognised for its high quality and decorative craftsmanship. Records indicate he passed away around 1816 at the age of 81, suggesting a career that spanned several decades of the Georgian era.
After his demise in 1816, his business did not immediately vanish. Historical evidence, including the 1820 hallmark on the item presented here, indicates the workshop continued to operate for at least several years, likely managed by family members or senior apprentices.
