Fine quality spring detent chronometer

A fine spring detent chronometer, made by William John Watkins in London, England, circa 1899. The numbered open faced case was crafted from silver, has the London Hallmarks from 1899 and a monogram on the back lid. The white enamel dial has Roman hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and blued steel hands. The numbered movement has a very fine chronometer escapement with large chronometer balance, a helical hairspring, a diamond end stone and a finely engraved cock.
Case and movement have matching numbers and the movement is signed.
