A fine English silver pair cased with repoussé décor made by Jeremie Gregory, circa 1665. A silver, open faced watch with key winding. An outer plain case, silver polished, inner chased Repoussé technique case. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute track and blued steel Poker & Beetle hands. A gilded brass movement, fusee and chain, verge escapement, polished steel monometallic balance and blued steel flat hairspring, pierced and engraved gilded English cock with a chimaera. The dial and movement are signed.

Jeremie Gregory worked in London, Cornhill. He was a member of the Clockmakers’ Company in 1652 and a master in 1665. A maker of repute, a travelling clock by him is in the Victoria and Albert Museum, a silver alarm watch in the Guildhall Museum, and another in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
