Rare pocket watch with full plate verge escapement
–
A rare pocket watch with mock pendulum, made by John Bushman in London, England, circa 1690. The open faced double case of this watch was crafted from silver and the numbered inner case has the master’s mark “IW”. The face of the watch has a decentralized champlevé dial at 12 o’clock on the front, a balance wheel under the dial, a cut out for the mock pendulum and gold plated hands. The movement has an extremely rare English verge escapement with full plate, magnificent engraving, early tulip pillars and a steep fusee.
