A series of very similar watches were produced by different makers commemorating the 1707 Act of Union where England and Scotland joined to form a Union. Depicted in the centre of this watch are two images of Queen Anne, signifying that she was queen to both England and Scotland, holding hands with herself. The difference is signified by the armorial shields, the Tudor rose and the Scottish thistle. It was this act that resulted in the creation of the United Kingdom.
