A very heavy English silver triple cased verge pocket watch made for the Ottoman market, circa 1845. A silver and tortoiseshell, open faced, key winding pocket watch, fitted into an exotic gilded metal and niello silver protective case. Outer silver triple case with tortoiseshell panels and piqué décor, polished silver outer pair case. White enamel dial with Turkish numerals and blued steel Poker and Beetle hands. A gilded brass movement, fusee and chain, verge escapement, monometallic balance (polished steel) and blued steel flat hairspring, pierced and engraved gilded English cock with an urn and foliage. The dial is signed, the movement is signed and numbered.
