A remarkable gold enamel English verge pocket watch in a double case for the Ottoman market “Watermill at Lake Geneva”, circa 1813.
The outer case 18 Carat gold with waved rim, floral engravings on the inside, opaque polychrome taille d’Epargne enamelling, partly engine turned and translucent red and green enamelled; on the back side an enamel plaque with the miniature painting of a watermill at the lake Geneva during sunset, engine turned, translucent rose-coloured background and five piece lateral hinge. Inner case 18 Carat gold, polished with case maker punch mark “AN” and opaque blue and translucent red enamelled bow. Enamel dial with radial Ottoman numerals and “Fleur de Lys” gold hands. Signed fire gilt full plate movement with keywind, pierced flower pillars, verge escapement, very finely florally engraved and pierced balance cock with crescent and a star.
