An extremely beautiful lépine with enamel case in original box and with the original key, made by Moulinié Frères & Co. in Genève, Switzerland, circa 1820. The open faced numbered case of this watch is crafted from 18 Carat gold, extremely elaborately enamelled and has the maker’s mark FM (Moulinié Frères & Co.). The engine turned dial has Roman hour numerals and gold Breguet hands. The movement has a thin cylinder escapement.

Moulinié à Genève is proven to be founded around 1795 by Jacques-Dauphin Moulinié. Jacques-Dauphin Moulinié and Jean-François Bautte registered a company in 1796, which has existed since August 1, 1793 with a 9 year contract. On October 1st 1804 a new company, Moulinié, Bautte & Co., was established for 4 years with the addition of Jean-Gabriel Moynier , this time not only as a watch case manufacturer but for the watch and jewelery trade. From 1808 to 1821, when Moulinié retired, the firm was known as Moulinié, Bautte & Moynier . The sons Jean-François Moulinié with Jacques-Dauphin Moulinié junior continued to work as Moulinié Frères & Cie..
