Gold pocket watch with three complications
–
An important, possibly unique, à toc minute repeating jumping hour pocket chronometer made by Breguet in Paris, France, circa 1792. This watch features a plain 18 carat gold case and the white enamel dial has Arabic hour numerals, outer minute divisions with quarter hour markers, auxiliary seconds at 8 o’clock, a subsidiary dial for the date at 4 and steel Breguet hands. The extremely rare movement is fitted with a lever escapement, chronometer balance and helical hairspring.
The dial and band are signed.

The item presented here is a Breguet rarity. Other Breguet pocket chronometers from this period with these complications are not known. A similar piece with the same case and dial, also a repeater and with the date, but with the usual movement bearing a cylinder escapement, was auctioned in Geneva in 2008 and sold for CHF 152.500.
Signed: Breguet
