Gold repeating musical watch

A fine Swiss 18 carat gold open faced quarter repeating musical pocket watch, circa 1820. Gilt brass two train movement with a standing barrel for the going train, cylinder escapement, plain three arm balance, flat balance spring, polished steel endplate, index regulator, repeating on 2 gongs with 2 hammers activated by depressing the pendant.  Music/silence lever at the edge of the cuvette at 9 o’clock beneath the back cover, the music is playing on the hour or at will. Hinged gilt-brass cuvette with 2 apertures for winding and 1 for hand setting , slide in the band at 6 o’clock for playing music at will.

Gold dial with Roman hours on a brushed chapter ring, an outer minute track, the centre is engine turned, blued steel serpentine hands. Engine turned gold case, the back with a small central polished round cartouche. Case numbered. In excellent condition.
