–
A French fragment of a Renaissance pendant watch, circa 1590. The movement dates back to the early Renaissance; its cartouche-shaped form matches the shape of the case. The case is all-over engraved with flowers, tendrils and geometric pattern, with an open-work back in the style of a rose window revealing the bell. The centre of the silver dial on the front with inserted Roman numerals is decorated with floral engraving.
Gilt bronze case with rear bell; silver champlevé dial with Roman numerals; full plate movement, verge escapement and stackfreed.
