An extremely fine and rare French, 18K gold watch with jump hours, quarter repeating and ruby cylinder escapement, circa 1829. A Monsieur Robert Knight by Breguet, Horloger de la Marine Royale, sold to Robert Knight, August 29, 1829, for 2,400 francs. Forme quatre baguettes by Joly (master mark). An engine-turned. Hinged gold cuvette. Silver dial, engine-turned, brushed chapter ring with radial Roman numerals, outer minute chapter with dot indexes. Blued steel Breguet hands.

A gilt movement, standing barrel, overhanging ruby cylinder escapement, plain three-arm balance with parachute on the top pivot, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator with bimetallic temperature compensation curb, all-or-nothing repeating with a single hammer on one gong activated by a pull-and-twist piston in the pendant. Dial and cuvette signed.
