Exceptionally heavy watch with open face
–
A French, exceptionally heavy, open faced pocket watch with self-strike and repeater, circa 1833.
Polished 18K gold case with gold hallmarks from 1833. Enamel dial signed Breguet a Paris, with Breguet-style radial hours, outer minutes track, and blued Breguet hands. Very solid quality, technically highly complex verge movement with a rare half-hour self-strike and hour repeater, triggered by a tiny button in the pendant.
–
Diameter: 56 mm
–
Weight: 149 g
–
Signed: Breguet a Paris
–
The watch has a very rare striking mechanism which, if necessary, strikes the number of hours that have passed by pressing the button in the counterpart and also strikes this number independently at the full and half-hour and not, as is usual with these watches, a normal half-hour strike.
–
Even if the watch did not come from Breguet’s workshops, as the signature suggests, it is a highly complicated, heavy gold striking mechanism clock from the 1st half of the 19th century.

Signed: Breguet a Paris
