Silver verge watch in the shape of a star

An extremely rare star form pocket watch made by Bazille Fils in Montpellier, France, circa 1780. This open faced watch, crafted from silver and rock crystal of outstanding quality, has a case in the shape of a star which is elaborately engraved, a back with a view to the balance that can be closed with a cover cap and a diamond set opening button. The white enamel dial has Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track, outermost five minutes and metal hands. The numbered movement has a verge escapement.
The dial and movement are signed.
