A French deck watch for the Bureau des Longitudes with original box, circa 1900.
Enamel dial with black Arabic numerals subsidiary dial for seconds. Silver polished case. It has a bridge movement and a gold screw compensation balance.

Emmanuel Olivier Boudeaud (1866-1924) was “Vice-président de la chambre syndicale de l’horlogerie” and “Horloger de la Marine”. He took over the business at Boulevard de Port Royal 50 from Bernard Callier, who in turn had taken it over from Joseph Thaddäus Winnerl.

The Bureau des Longitudes was founded on June 25, 1795 and charged with finding methods for the determination of longitude at sea – just like the British Board of Longitude, which had been in existence since 1714.
