Silver verge open-faced pocket watch

An early pendant pocket watch from Bordeaux, circa 1675. This timepiece boasts a silver Champlevé dial, adorned with radial Roman numerals and intricate engravings of a lively nature scene, featuring a dog amidst florals with a bird in ascent. It is pointed out by a blued filigree hand. The watch’s full plate movement is key wind and showcases floral motifs and sophisticated click work, all fire gilt. Signed by Epaphras Laudreau, it features a traditional gut/fusee mechanism, supported by pierced flower pillars. Its verge escapement is complemented by an iron ring balance and a florally pierced balance cock.
