An extremely rare French silver open faced verge oignon pocket watch with alarm, circa 1690. Full plate movement, chain and fusee, a florally engraved barrel for the alarm, one hammer and a three arm steel balance. White enamel dial with blue Roman hours, a central disc for the alarm with Arabic numerals and a single hand. A leather covered protective case with silver framed sound holes on the edge and a stylised flower made of silver decorative nails on the back, the inner case is decorated to match with an open work edge and engraved leaf tendrils, a cartouche with an engraved city view on the loose ring pendant, a bottom bell.
