A French/Swiss pocket watch with a quarter-hour repeater, circa 1900. This timepiece features an 18K red gold monogrammed case bearing the case maker’s punch mark C&J. It boasts an enamel dial with Breguet-style radial hours, an outer minutes track, a subsidiary dial for the seconds, and elegant spade hands. The watch is equipped with a bridge movement, two hammers/two gongs, a screw compensation balance, and a lever escapement.

Jean Régis was awarded a gold medal in 1900 for his invention of an electromagnetic regulator which had a power reserve of 5 years. He used a repeater mechanism in this pocket watch, which was designed by Alfred Lugrin (1858-1920). Lugrin gained his expertise at Jaeger-LeCoultre in Le Sentier and specialized in the manufacture of chronographs, stopwatches, and watches with repeater striking mechanisms.
