Gilt metal oignon quarter repeater

French verge oignon quarter repeater with enamel dial in a gilt consular case, circa 1695. Full plate fire gilt fusee movement, slender Egyptian pillars, chased and engraved bridge cock, three-arm steel balance with spiral blue steel hairspring. Small silver regulator index. Enamel dial set with large black Roman numerals, the outer ring with small black Arabic numerals, inside ring marked for the hours and quarters. Wound through the enamel dial with steel hands. Gilt metal consular case, back and bezel used to be covered with shagreen or leather. Push pendant for quarter repeating on a bell in the case.
