Signing watches with both “Deutsche Uhrenfabrikation Glashütte” and “A. Lange & Söhne” was primarily a strategy to protect the regional reputation of Glashütte watchmaking and to differentiate high end products from mass produced or imported ones. This dual branding practice occurred during the “Golden Age” of Glashütte pocket watch production, spanning from the late 19th century until 1945.
