–
A rare form of chronometer escapement, the steel lever forming the detent engages with a pin on the balance. Two steel pins set close together on its upper surface pass through a slot in the underside of the escape wheel teeth allowing one tooth to pass on every oscillation of the balance. The tip of the tooth gives impulse directly to a pallet on the balance staff.

Adam Sautter, German watchmaker and pocket watch manufacturer.
Adam Sautter was born in 1820 and was a resident of Heiden. He was known as a very skilled watchmaker, worked for a long time in Switzerland and then later tried to introduce pocket watch production in Württemberg. In the factory he set up in 1866, he mainly produced pocket watches with bow-type windings of his own design, as well as a kind of pin chronometer escapement; However, the factory closed again after a few years, and he then dealt with the production of hob cutters and so-called file cutters. Many new escapements and peculiar clocks emerged from his hands, but despite his inventive talent, luck stayed away.
He received in 1862a patent for an escapement device on pocket watches. On June 14, 1890, he received patent specification No. 2423 from the Federal Office for Intellectual Property for a cylinder escapement with a freely swinging balance.
Adam Sautter died on January 15, 1902, in Ravensburg
