A heavy German 18 carat gold hunting cased minute repeating split seconds chronograph astronomical lever pocket watch with a 30 minute counter, perpetual calendar and moon phases, circa 1920. Sold on May 21st, 1920 to W. Ganssen jewellers, Coburg for 35000 Marks. Glazed gold chatoned rhodium plated ¾ plate movement, Geneva striping decoration, gold lever and escape wheel, mirror polished and bevelled scissor shaped double handed tongs with separate ratchet wheel for the double chronograph, mirror polished screws, index spring fine adjusting device, gold screwed compensation balance, the balance cock lavishly engraved with stylized foliage, a chatoned diamond end stone on balance. Gold cuvette. White enamel dial with black Arabic Empire numerals, red minutes, outer five minute divisions, sunk auxiliary seconds, a sunken center, inlaid scales for the day, date, month and leap year indication, cobalt blue enamelled golden moon phase disc with inlaid gold moon and stars, gold Louis XV hands. Plain à goutte Louis XV case, a slide for the repeating mechanism, two pushers for the split seconds chronograph, large five part lateral hinge. Comes with an Extract from the Archives.
