Gold Glashütte watch in quality 1A by A.Lange & Söhne
–
An extremely rare, compact German Glashütte hunting cased pocket watch with minute repeater and date, manufactured in 1A quality, circa 1889. This timepiece showcases an 18K gold case with factory glazing, adorned with the monogram EB under a seven-pointed baronial crown on the watch cover. The enamel dial boasts Arabic radial hours, an outer minutes track with red five-minute numerals, and subsidiary dials for the seconds and the date, complemented by elegant gold Louis XV-style hands. The rhodium-plated 3/4 plate movement includes two hammers/two gongs and a gold screw compensation balance. Additionally, it is accompanied by a Lange extract from the archives, providing documentation of its sale on May 31, 1889, for 1150 marks to Dürrstein & Co. in Dresden.

It is worth noting that A. Lange & Söhne has only made 12 watches that have minute repeaters and a date function. This combination is extremely rare and is characterized by the sub-dials being offset from the centre. Additionally, the movement number is contrasted with the circular Lange & Söhne signature, which serves as a visual supplement.
