A German very fine, extremely rare Glashütte gentleman’s pocket watch with chronograph – lever chronometer – manufactured in quality 1A, circa 1896.
18-carat pink gold, polished case, Lucia à goutte case design, gold dome. Signed enamel dial with Arabic numerals, auxiliary seconds, centre chronograph hand and gold Louis XV hands. 3/4 plate movement, frosted, gilt, finely ground and bevelled chronograph steel parts, ratchet wheel, gold screw compensation balance, hand-engraved balance cock, index spring fine adjusting device, gold lever and escape wheel and chatoned diamond endstone on balance.

Sold in 1896 for the sum of 572 Marks and sold a second time in 1906 for 825 Marks to H. Siemes, Antwerpen. I was tested at the German chronometer testing institute, Deutsche Seewarte (German Marine Observatory) in Hamburg. With original box, original certificate, operating instructions, price tag and rating certificate for small pocket watch testings of the Deutsche Seewarte in Hamburg dated May 4, 1901.
