This watch bears the signature of Friedrich Wilhelm Roetig (1782-1861) who was not only a watchmaker but also an optician. He was known for making clocks and watches with special types of escapements, of which the present watch certainly has. Moise Pouzait developed the escapement with his name in 1786 as a response to the Chinese market looking for watches with dead-beat seconds.
