A magnificent German minute repeating hunting cased pocket watch made for Gebhard Huber, circa 1885.
Chased and lavishly decorated 18-carat gold case with engraved ducal crown, and inscription, Souvenir de G. H. 1885, on the inside. Silver dial with particularly striking rose gold letters that indicate the hours Gebhard Huber, outer minutes track, subsidiary dial for the seconds, and spade hands. Bridge movement, two hammers / two gongs, gold screw compensation balance.

The Huber family of Lindenberg were, horse traders for over 100 years; the three brothers Antonio, Martino and Gebhard Huber operated one of the biggest horse-trading businesses in Europe to the end of the 19th century. When his brothers died, Gebhard continued to run the company in Milan, however, he was forced to emigrate to Switzerland when Italy entered the war. He died at the age of 86 and was buried in the family plot in Hanover.
