An English quarter repeating duplex by Frodsham in a gold open faced case, hallmarked London circa 1846. Gilt three quarter plate key wind movement with going barrel. Engraved cock with polished steel regulator and compensation balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Duplex escapement, brass escape wheel, pivots with endstones. Slide quarter repeating on two polished steel gongs. Signed white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals, gold hands. Engine turned 18 Carat open faced case, recessed gold slide in the ribbed middle close to the pendant. Wound and set through the signed and numbered gold cuvette. Maker’s mark AN in a rectangle and number corresponding to that on the movement.

In very good condition. The polished steel stud for the hairspring is very unusual, the hairspring being clamped between jaws rather than being fixed by a pin.
