Silver hunting cased keyless lever watch

A fine American silver full hunter pocket watch made by Rockford Watch Co in Illinois, circa 1880. It features a mechanical key winding fire gilded / gold plated brass movement with a lever escapement, 15 jewels, a compensation balance wheel, and an intricately engraved balance cock signed Rockford Watch Co. The white enamel dial shows black Roman numerals for the hours, an outer minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and blued steel spade hands. The dial is signed Rockford Watch Co. The timepiece is housed in an exceptionally large and heavy round solid silver full hunter case with a plain, polished, spring hinged front cover, a matching smooth reverse back cover, gold plated accents on the hinges, a sturdy suspension bow, and a silver inner protective cuvette.
