A rare Italian gentleman’s pocket watch with an early double wheel duplex escapement, circa 1810.
Silver polished case with case maker’s punch mark “ALB”. White signed enamel dial with Arabic numerals and blued Breguet hands. Bridge movement, keywind, firegilt, large barrel, double wheel duplex escapement, ring balance, blued balance spring.

Francesco Manfredini was one of the four brothers Manfredini, the brothers Francesco, Luigi (1771-1840) , Antonio (1786-1838) and Giuseppe Manfredini were born in Bologna as children of Giuseppe Manfredini and Anna Ruggi. In 1798 the brothers moved from Bologna to Milan. They worked in Fontana, near Porta Comasina, where the brothers had a bronze foundry, the “Manufacture Royale de Bronze de Fontana”. Here z. B. bust, pendant housing, vases, chandeliers, and candlesticks. This foundry was promoted by Viceroy of Italy Eugène de Beauharnais.
Luigi Manfredini was an engraver, medal designer and manufacturer, Francesco the oldest brother was a goldsmith, jeweler and watchmaker, he worked in Paris for several years.
Francesco Manfredini died on June 16, 1810 . He was probably born around 1769 .
