Gold watch with ruby cylinder escapement

A very fine and rare French, 18K gold pocket watch with quarter repeating à toc and ruby cylinder escapement, circa 1805. Accompanied by an original fitted box. An engine-turned and polished reeded band. Gilt-brass cuvette, Empire Amy Gros (master mark). White enamel dial by Borel, Breguet numerals and outer minute track, secret signature below 12. Blued steel Breguet hands.

A gilt movement, standing barrel, overhanging ruby cylinder escapement, plain three-arm balance with parachute on the top pivot, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator with bimetallic temperature compensation curb, all-or-nothing repeating with two hammers on the side of the case activated by depressing the pendant. Dial and cuvette signed.
