Aluminium open faced keyless lever presentation watch

A rare and lightweight Swiss aluminium open faced presentation pocket watch made by Vacheron & Constantin in Geneva, circa 1953. It has a high grade mechanical crown winding movement with a compensated lever escapement, signed Vacheron & Constantin. The matte white aluminium dial features applied rose gold toned Arabic numerals for the hours, a fine outer minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and sleek white metal hands, signed Vacheron & Constantin Genève. One hand is broken, and two are missing.

The timepiece is housed in a smooth, round, multibody, solid aluminium, open faced case with a plain, satin finished reverse back cover, a fluted winding crown, and a stylised geometric suspension bow. The reverse back cover is engraved with the presentation inscription: Presented to W.L. Breeze by Aluminium Union Limited in Recognition of 25 years’ service, April 1953.
