An English 18-carat gold open faced keyless and key-wound pocket chronometer with power reserve, circa 1886. 3/4 Plate gilt finished jewelled lever movement, large bimetallic compensation balance with gold screws, blued steel helical spring with diamond endstone, free-sprung regulator. Gold cuvette. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, 30 hours power reserve, constant seconds. Plain case. Case stamped with casemaker’s initials E.W. and London date letter for 1886, dial and movement signed and numbered. Comes with a Kew Observatory Certificate.
