A rare Swiss 18 carat gold hunting cased five minute repeating keyless lever chronograph, circa 1887. Retailed by Ernesto Haissmann, Rome. Movement with 29 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, counterpoised straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with gold screws, blued steel Breguet balance spring with overcoil. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, minute track and outer fifths of a second divisions with five minute Arabic numerals. Plain case, hinged gold cuvette, repeating on gongs activated by a slide in the band, chronograph button at 5 o’clock is unlocked when front cover is open. Movement numbered, dial, case and cuvette signed.
