The present watch was exhibited at the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia, 2004 and illustrated in the catalogue exhibition, Breguet in the Hermitage, Slavia, p. 65. This is the 5th in the first series of 20 watches made by Abraham Louis Breguet incorporating the jumping hour and ruby cylinder escapement. It was still the property of the Hottinguer family when it was exhibited at the Palais Galliera in October 1923, on the centenary of Abraham Louis Breguet’s death as no. 75 in the catalogue. Interestingly enough, this watch was the third to be sold, as the first two were recorded as lost. This makes the present example one of the very first produced examples by Abraham Louis Breguet still in existence.

Signed: Breguet
