A fine and rare American 18 carat gold open faced minute repeating dual time split seconds chronograph keyless lever watch, circa 1875. Nickel finished 3/4 plate fully jewelled lever movement, bimetallic compensation balance, minute repeating on two hammers onto two gongs, glazed dust cover. White enamel regulator style dial, outer ring calibrated for Arabic five minute divisions, two small dials with Roman numerals and blued steel spade hands for the two time zones, individually set by depressing a button to either side of the pendant and turning the crown. Case with engraved initials JWD to the back, repeating slide in the band, split seconds chronograph mechanism operated through a button in the band and through the crown, crown locking lever in the band. Case, dial and movement signed and numbered.
