Gold and enamel quarter repeating double dial automaton watch
–
A very fine and rare Swiss 18 carat gold and enamel quarter repeating double dial automaton watch, circa 1820. Keywound movement. White enamel dial with Breguet numerals, subsidiary regulator dial, glazed back with a painted polychrome enamel scene depicting an idyllic riverside landscape, surmounted by a vari-coloured gold automaton scene depicting a barking dog, two children seated on a rocking seesaw, one boy standing in the middle, his arms outstretched and his hips moving to keep balance, a realistically designed stream of water is streaming out of a fountain while the vanes of a windmill on the hill are turning, all in unison with the quarter repeating. Case with pierced and chased scroll decorated band, repeating through the pendant.
