A French silver pair cased quarter striking and repeating coach watch with alarm and calendar, bearing signature ‘L’Epine à Paris’, mid 18th century. Gilt four train full plate movement with faceted baluster pillars, scroll pierced bridge, verge escapement with chain fusee, engraved standing barrels to hour, quarter and alarm trains, Schlagt/Schl’Nicht lever, striking the quarters with two hammers, striking the hour and alarm on separate hammers, all on large bell within case, quarter repeating by releasing hour and quarter trains by means of pull cord at VI o’clock. White enamel dial with concentric Arabic minute, date, Roman chapter and alarm rings, scroll pierced gilt hour and minute hands and steel calendar and alarm hands. Inner case silver with pierced and floral engraved band, swivel pendant and piersilver mounted pierced leather outer case. Movement signed.
