Gold and enamel watch in the shape of a violin
–
An extremely rare 18 carat gold violin form watch with enamel work of exceptional quality probably made in Geneva, Switzerland, circa 1820. The case boasts a captivating golden brown guilloché enamel adorning all surfaces, featuring a remarkably rare design reminiscent of a chessboard pattern ornamented with delicate golden tendrils. The hinged rear lid opens to reveal a restored white enamel dial with Arabic numerals for the hours, an outer minute track and black moon hands. A fragrance container with an intricately designed flower shaped cover above the dial adds an extra touch of allure. The incorporation of a spindle movement serves as further evidence of the attention to detail and precise engineering utilized in creating this piece.
