A charming French gilt brass open faced keywinding Louis XVI pocket watch made by Gudin in Paris, circa 1775. The case back with, in the center a polychrome enamel oval miniature painting on brass showing a lady of quality, in bust, whose portrait is embellished with strass, in a silver frame set with rhinestones. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute with Arabic numerals and gilded metal Louis XVI hands. A full plate, gilded brass movement, fusee and chain, verge escapement, monometallic balance and blued steel flat hairspring, pierced and engraved gilded continental cock, polished steel end piece. Signature on the dial and movement.
