This is an early and exceptional work by Daniel Quare, which strikes the hours and half hours in passing. Dating to 1687, and in excellent condition, this is an especially early example of a clock watch by this maker and the earliest Quare watch so far recorded with a hallmark. The case was made by Nathaniel Delander, the foremost maker of his time. Delander’s mark is recorded on the Goldsmiths’ 1682 plate along with the maker’s mark, which displays a coronet above his initials.

Signed: D. Quare London
