Gold quarter repeating full hunter with date by A. Lange
–
An uncommon one of the earliest A. Lange pocket watches with double complications, circa 1871. This watch is a rare piece with an 18K gold case that is of excellent quality and extremely heavy. It features one of the earliest highly complicated precision lever movements with a quarter-hour repeater and date and is considered the best quality movement with 1A screwed gold chatons, diamond endstone, gold lever, gold escape wheel, and an early and rare version with only one hammer. The original enamel dial is perfectly preserved and bears the early Dresden signature, with Roman radial hours, outer minutes track, blued steel hands, and subsidiary dials for the seconds and date.

The watch is in excellent condition and is currently in working order. The archives extract confirms that the watch is original and is one of the earliest models made by Lange with this complication. The watch was sold to Gustav Jensen in Havana in 1872 and is one of the rarest complicated pocket watches made by A. Lange. In the first year of production in 1871, only two pieces with numbers 7651 and 7652 were manufactured. In total, only 22 of these watches were made over a period of more than 50 years.
