A rare Swiss independent seconds quarter repeating lever in a gold full hunter case, hallmarked London, circa 1863. Key wind gilt bar movement with two suspended going barrels, the larger for the going train. Plain cock with polished steel regulator, compensation balance with overcoil hairspring. Club foot lever escapement. The three trains are fully jewelled, escape, lever, and seconds fly pivots with end stones. Slide quarter repeating on two polished steel gongs—white enamel dial with independent jump center seconds, Roman numerals and fine blue steel Breguet hands. The engine turned 18 Carat full hunter case has a coin edge middle recessed gold slide for the quarter repeat and a small slide for the independent center seconds.
Wound and set through the signed gold cuvette. Maker’s mark HB in an oval.
