Nickelled silver pocket watch with 24 hour dial

A Swiss nickel silver open faced keyless pocket chronometer made for the Canadian Railway by Louis Brandt & Frère SA, circa 1911. The solid and polished case with a rounded bezel. Three part white enamel dial with bold black Arabic hour numerals 1-12, small black Arabic 24 hour numerals in the recessed center, an outer minute track, sunk subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and blued steel hands. Rhodium plated grade CCR movement, 19 jewels, of which eight in screwed chatons, a safety pinion, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring and micrometre regulator. Dial and movement signed. This watch is sold with a presentation box and certificate of authenticity.

The movement of the present watch is a Grade CCR caliber, which is considered one of the finest series of manufactured precision calibers. The Grade CCR was only exceeded in quality by the Omega Grade CCCR caliber at the time of its manufacture. The case of this watch was made in Canada, as is usual for all Canadian Railway chronometers.
