Gold square shaped pocket watch by Humbert & Gasse

An extremely rare, heavy, square quarter repeating half hunting cased pocket watch with chronograph, calendar and moon phase, circa 1900.
Lavishly florally engraved 18 Carat rose gold case with monogram, inlaid enamel Roman numerals, numbered and signed gold dome, case maker’s punch mark “HL”, pusher for chronograph at 12 o’clock, slide for repeating mechanism and large lateral hinge. Enamel dial with radial Roman hours, auxiliary seconds, three subsidiary dials for indications of the weekday, month and date, cobalt blue enamelled moon phase disc with inlaid golden moon and stars, gold Louis XV hands and centre chronograph hand. Bridge movement, rhodium plated and ground, with mirror polished chronograph steel parts, ratchet wheel, two hammers / two gongs, Wolf’s teeth winding wheels, screw compensation balance and counterpoised lever.
