Patek Philippe began producing split second chronograph minute repeating watches in the late 1870’s. Roughly a 1000 were produced with almost half of them sold in the United States. After 1900, Patek Philippe began designing the watches with an open face and a 30 minute register, which can be seen in the present watch.
