Nickel open faced observation watch by A. Lange & Söhne

A fine Glashütte nickel open faced keyless lever deck watch with power reserve indication made for the Kriegsmarine Observation Service, circa 1940. Finished by Andreas Huber in Munchen-Berlin. Gilt ¾ plate movement with 17 jewels, a straight line lever escapement with lateral banking extension on the entry pallet, Guillaume balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring with patent stud fastening and swan neck micrometer adjustment to the regulator. A hinged stainless steel cuvette. The massive case back is engraved with the German eagle, the service number and watch number. Brushed silvered dial with black Arabic hour numerals, an outer minute track, subsidiary seconds at 3 o’clock, power reserve indication at 9 and blued steel hands. Cuvette and movement signed.
