A gold and enamel hunter case watch with fine paintings and a small chatelaine set with Oriental pearls, probably made in Spain by Pascual Marquès in Valencia, Spain, circa 1890. This watch has a numbered full hunter cased watch which is crafted from 18 carat gold and has fine enamel painting on both sides, representing of two famous baroque paintings by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo (1617-1682). The original Louis XV white enamel dial has red Arabic five minute numerals, black Roman hour numerals and gold hands and the movement has a cylinder escapement.
The dial and cuvette are signed.

Bartolomé Esteban Murillo (* 1617 in Seville, Andalusia; † 3 April 1682) was a Spanish Baroque painter and the leading and most famous painter in Seville from the mid 17th century. The two paintings shown here, ‘St John the Baptist as a child’ and ‘The Immaculate Conception’ from the period 1665-1670, are originally in the Prado Museum in Madrid.
