Especially heavy à goutte pocket watch
–
An especially heavy gold full hunter case watch with chronometer escapement, made in Switzerland, circa 1900. The plain full hunter case of this watch is crafted from 14 Carat gold, has an à goutte (water drop) shape and with all three lids from gold it’s of a special solid quality. The cuvette is engraved with medals from London (1862), Vienna (1873), la Chaux-de-Fonds (1881), Chicago (1893) and Liège (1905). The white enamel dial has an outer ring with Arabic numerals for the hours, a subsidiary seconds dial at six o’clock and pink gold hands. The very fine movement with rocker, is glazed, has a helical hairspring, a fine adjusting device, a Swiss chronometer escapement, screwed gold chatons and the plate has Geneva striping.
Cuvette, dial and movement are inscribed ‘Chronometre’.
