A rare Art Nouveau gold and enamel watch with representation of the goddess Athena, made by Le Coultre & Cie in le Sentier, Vallé de Joux, Switzerland, circa 1900. The watch features a numbered case crafted from 18 carat gold, adorned with an enamelled portrait of the goddess Athena on the back lid, rarely depicted with a swan shaped helmet and a décolleté accented with rose cut diamonds, one of which is missing. The exceptional violet enamel dial features an outer ring with minute divisions, blue Roman hour numerals in oval cartouches and gold hands. The movement is fitted with a fine cylinder escapement and wolf’s toothing.
